I guess it’s been pretty obvious the last few weeks that blogging has slid down my priority list. I really appreciate those of you who still stop in and check on me now and then. I’m amazed that you care to keep up!
I don’t want to lose this place — because I keep thinking one of these days I’m going to get back to it. I love writing about books and inspirational media — yet my reading has slowed to a crawl lately. I guess I’ve reached a point in life where I’d rather be doing something than reading about other people doing things.
When I started blogging in October 2005, it seemed like the perfect timing. Back then, my youngest was six months old, sitting in my lap while I typed. Now she’s three — and she’s got a million things she’d rather be doing than watching me tap away on a keyboard!
So I thought I’d check in and let you know I’m giving myself an official summer break from blogging. Summers have gotten shorter with the new school calendar. Since we get a week off in October and three weeks off at Christmas, our new school year resumes in early August.
How about you? Are you feeling a need to rest and recharge your batteries? If I forget to charge my cell phone a few days, my battery wears out until my phone is useless. We mothers are the same way.
If you’re feeling tired and in need of a vacation, give yourself one! Even if you’re on a budget, you can still step out into your backyard and breathe deeply, letting go of your worries.
That’s where I’ll be.

I’m glad I popped in. Have a great summer!

Hey Darlene and Ruth!
Thanks for stopping in.
I’m sure your Canadian summers are much cooler than ours down here in the Deep South. I wish you both a wonderful, relaxing break from routine!

Hi Heather,
Isn’t it funny how it is often easier to have virtual meetings than in person even though we’re just a few minutes away! I wish I had the time to do more writing, too, but, like you, I wouldn’t trade a moment with my sweet little ones. I hope you all are surviving this heat. Maybe I’ll see you at the waterpark sometime!

I hear you, Heather. Enjoy the break, and I’ll stop by here once in a while if only to look at that mesmerizing photo you posted
It’s very ahhh. When I view it, all I can think of is “I want to go there!” Here’s hoping you can ‘go there’ this summer too.

I saw on one of your posts, THE BOOK OF MOM by T Wilshire. We read it in our book club too. A perfect summer read, what did you think?

Have a most funderful summer! Thinking of you.
Enjoy those precious children! Trying to do the same…(my oldest is doing driver’s ed this summer and he just asked to have a girl over to our house for dinner…’cause she reminds him of me….yikes! My 10-yr.old daughter has been initiated into young woman hood since having to try on about 22 swimsuits before finding the best fit…our middle child, age 13, packed himself completely for camp…They have grown up over night and my thighs have turned to orange peel…) Savor the moments! Mine are growing up too fast! Blessings, Lisa & family

Have a good summer Heather!
Ours is done, classes started last week and we’re all trying our best to adjust to it again.

Aww…Well, I haven’t been blogging much lately, but I’ve sort of picked up steam again over the past couple of weeks. And guess what! Tomorrow I’m doing my first ever author interview! I hope you can stop by.

It could be a summer thing. Everyone is out there doing something and you want to be out there, too. I know that keeping your blog updated will help keep your readers…I let me blog slide and I don’t know where everyone went…so I learned my lesson. I’m really enjoying your blog and wanted to stop and tell you that!

Have you been doing any good summer reading? I read Taylor Wilshire’s, The book of Mom, laughed myself silly, and was inspired! Loved it.

Hi Heather,
Wow, I went online late tonight to check some details for the BRCW conference schedule and read about a conference where lots of women were socializing and having a grand time. Among the lists and print in a column, I noticed your name because I have a cousin named Ivester! It’s not a name often seen, not in NC anyway. Are you related to anyone in Florida?
As it turned out, I clicked on your site, read a ton of blogs–which were great to read, and read the interview you did with Vonda Skelton, my beloved mentor! I loved her latest book, “Seeing Through the Lies,” (my review is on Amazon.com), and enjoyed the dialogue you posted here.
Anyway, I found your blog and site encouraging, informative, and invigorating to me as a Christian writer. Keep at it with your craft and I hope we meet up at a conference in the near future.
Many blessings to you and yours,
Barbara Parentini

hi heather!
my blogging has way tapered off, too. But i was looking through our old emails - from april of 2006!!! and you were SO encouraging to me as a writer. You believed one day I’d be published - or at least were nice enough to pretend to! And it happened! Thank you for those encouraging emails. I know it’s belated, but it’s still heartfelt. If you’ll email me your address, I’d love to send you a copy! Kelsey

Heather,
I’m glad you’re taking time to play. Life rushes by too fast, and then the kids have other things to do. You’ll be glad you made memories together!
